HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?
Volunteering is an important component for keeping many community services operating. There are many positions which need an active volunteer at Senior Centers or at various other nonprofits in our communities. Some volunteers do regular shifts, like our Welcome Desk. Others come to help with special events.
Senior citizens have a lifetime of experience and talents to add to community activities and can give back to their communities through volunteering, making Wendell and other communities better places to live.
There are various needs and opportunities for volunteers at the Wendell Senior Center. Assisting in the kitchen on our Monday and Friday lunch days, helping with special group meals or filling in so our regular cooks can have an occasional day off is one area where volunteers are needed. Our thrift store is often in need of extra help and there are sometimes the need for special skills when maintenance and repairs are needed.
If you would like to offer your service and become an active volunteer, you may email the center at “firstname.lastname@example.org or call 208-536-9951. We will be happy to assist anyone who is looking for a volunteer opportunity but isn’t sure where to begin, or to assist those who are looking for a specific type of volunteer experience.
Volunteers who share skills and experience in our community make a difference every day. Their dedication provides support and raises awareness of services in the community.
WE CAN’T DO IT WITHOUT YOU!
VOLUNTEERING AT THE CENTER
Volunteers at the Senior Center provide more than 85% of the labor required to run the Center and they give over 4,000 hours of annual service to the community. It is impossible to completely understand the significance of this gift. The blessing is that those who give also receive. Clinical studies have shown that seniors who volunteer are happier, have an increased sense of well-being, enjoy broader social networks, and live longer!
